The Ptownie Guide to Fall

Updated November 20th, 2016!

One of Provincetown’s most-beloved events is on November 23rd, the Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument. This is always a festive and oddly moving event, with cookies and hot cider served, John Thomas on piano, and a countdown to the illumination of the extra lights that will be on through the end of the year. November 26th (that’s Thanksgiving, by the way) is the Pilgrim Trot along Commercial Street that raises funds for the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. And all Thanksgiving week you’ll find craft fairs in town, just in time for your holiday shopping.

Speaking of shopping, a don’t-miss event is the annual Holly Folly weekend from December 2-4. This is the best time for reconnecting with friends before the holidays. Besides the shop-hop, take in an amazing concert by the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, watch (or take part in!) the Santa Speedo Run, and of course the (in)famous Drag Bingo.

And, finally, usher in the new year at the First Light weekend (we’re at land’s end, so it all reaches us first!) and start your 2017 out right!
