Join Keshet for a Havdalah reception on the beach! Keshet is proud to partner with the Family Equality Council for a fun-filled evening of games, singing and stories. Refreshments provided. This is the highlight of the Cape Cod LGBTQ Families Day and open to all local families. The picnic is designed for our Cape Cod families to relax, hang out, and connect close to home. The Provincetown Inn is providing lunch for those who have registered! Those who are not registered as still welcome, but must bring or buy their own lunch.

Welcome to all new and returning families! Join us for fun and community as we introduce ourselves and breakout groups of parents, COLAGE youth, and littles get to know one another. Event hosts are moving from their greater New York community to western Massachusetts. All NY and MA families are invited to discuss, relax, and just hang out! Look for the navy blue house.

4:00PM-5:00PM: Multi-Racial Ice Cream Social
What better way to celebrate the diversity of our families and our community than enjoying a cup of delicious ice cream and fun activities! Ice cream will be served while supplies last. Families must show their official Family Week 2017 wristband to receive ice cream. If it rains, ice cream will be available at the Storefront (Fire Station 3, 254 Commercial Street.) Those with dairy and peanut allergies should take caution. Feel free to bring a blanket and join us in the park! Special thanks to Ben & Jerry’s for the ice cream.

5:30PM-7:00PM: Deadzone Zombie Tag
NEW! This fundraiser for Family Equality Council is a modern version of tag and a scavenger hunt using LED light transmitters. You start the 1 hour game as a Human or a Zombie wearing the transmitter. As a Human you are given a map and clues to find 5 out of 8 check points before your time is up. As a Zombie you are trying to infect the humans and turn them into Zombies using your transmitter before their game is over.

7:00PM-9:30PM: “A Very Sordid Wedding” Screening
Come see a special viewing of the hilarious “A Very Sordid Wedding”, the sequel to the hit cult classic “Sordid Lives”, a film written and directed by Del Shores that deals with the questions, concerns, bigotry and fallout of what happens when marriage equality comes to a small Texas town where not everyone is ready to accept it.

Become a junior marine biologist! Use a plankton tow to collect tiny marine creatures then take an up close and personal look under the microscope. Learn how and why the biggest animals in the ocean depend on the smallest animals to survive!

Family Equality Council and The Center for Coastal Studies are joining forces for a four day camp. This camp gives kids the opportunity to learn about the wonderful world of whales and oceans. This work shop will expose parents to meditation, breathing, and yoga. It will be meaningful to those new to yoga as well as to those who have an established practice. In these politically charged times, self-care skills to stay calm and grounded are paramount. Let’s talk about our families! In this workshop sprouts will get a chance to creatively tell stories about their families and look at ways our families are portrayed in the media. Participants can chose to draw, collage, write poetry, create family trees, and act out anything they chose about their families.

Find your local friends and build community. Regions represented at the gathering include New England, Midwest, South, DC/Maryland/Virginia, West Coast, and more. Meet us by the pool for an afternoon of swimming, beach, sunshine, and giveaways from Ski Vermont and Sugarbush. Make connections with families from home to last all year! Ample free parking for attendees.

Join us for an exciting new take on a beloved annual event with activities and surprises by Disney. Build a sandcastle, relax on the beach, mingle with friends and enjoy some delicious s’mores (provided by us!). Bring a blanket, flashlight, picnic dinner, and folding chairs and hang out for a lovely evening. Zoë Lewis and her band will perform at 5:30pm, thanks to the support of Friends of the National Seashore. FREE parking is available at this location after 5pm!

Join us as LGBTQ families fill a boat for spectacular whale watching. Reserve tickets for the 2 pm trip by calling 1-800-826-9300 and mentioning ‘Family Week’. Payment is taken on-site at the Dolphin Fleet office (307 Commercial St) or at the pier. Recommended to go to the office ahead of time to pay and pick up tickets to avoid delay and lines.

Join the Center for Coastal Studies on the beach in front of The Crown & Anchor to build your own boat in preparation for the Home Made Boat Race on Thursday. Marine debris collected throughout the year will be available for anyone to come and use for their boat. Remember all boats made only from trash score high on ingenuity points!

4:00PM-5:00PM: Differently Abled Gathering
Come join, meet, and mingle with families with members who have special needs or are differently- abled at the Provincetown Inn! Yummy snacks will be provided and all family members are welcome at this gathering. Hope to see you there!

Big Ryan’s Tall Tales, an annual Provincetown favorite, will return to the Library Children’s Area on August 3 at 11:00 am. The program features Big Ryan’s original stories, puppet play, a bit of music and movement and a whole lot of fun! Big Ryan’s programs are appropriate for preschool all the way to 5th grade. The program runs about 45 minutes but has been known to sometimes go a full hour! This program is sponsored by the Provincetown Board of Library Trustees.

Join Family Equality Council and COLAGE for an opportunity to hear and learn from our teen panel about their experiences growing up in an LGBTQ+ family or with a parent coming out. Everyone is welcome and will have an opportunity to ask your questions, and talk about our families. This is always a powerful program so we encourage you to stay, ask questions, and listen.

The Home Made Boat Race highlights the issue of marine debris in our ocean. Use whatever you can to build a vessel that will get you to the finish line! Prizes will be awarded. Rain date is Friday, August 4th at 5 pm.

Each year at Family Week we host a family celebration of the Protectors Circle – a vital giving program defined by a personal commitment of at least $100 monthly or $1,200 annually – to thank all of the loyal supporters who have made our work possible and to welcome new families to join this remarkable group! Clambake is one of our most beloved events, complete with an old- fashioned feast of steamed lobsters; accompanied by remarks by some very special guests; and topped off by a sunset family dance overlooking all of Provincetown.

New England author Sarah Prager will tell fascinating little-known stories from queer history from her new book, Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World. Animal World Experience will visit the Provincetown Public Library to provide a fun, interactive, and educational animal presentation to audiences of all ages. Founder Matt Gabriel creates an animal presentation that is entertaining and also helps the audience to develop respect and awareness for animals of all kinds. Let’s celebrate! Tonight we will close out Family Week with a dance party! This is an opportunity for all youth COLAGErs to cut loose and shake their groove things on the dance floor! Sprouts and camp youth will be picked up at 8:00 PM, Middle school youth at 8:30 PM, and the dance will end for High School youth at 9:00 PM. Youth must be enrolled in COLAGE programming to attend.
