Job Posting: Director of Development

We are looking for a Director of Development who has the expertise to play a key role in the growth of
the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod (ASGCC). Our mission is to save lives through prevention,
education and life-sustaining services that address public health crises to build healthy communities
across the Cape and Islands.
Currently located in Provincetown, Hyannis, Falmouth, and the Islands, ASGCC has been providing care
and services to people living with HIV/AIDS for over 35 years. Our services for people living with HIV
include extensive medical case management, transportation assistance, access to food and nutrition
services, housing assistance, behavioral health supports and a wide range of other services to help our
clients lead healthy lives. In addition to our client services we provide a full range of prevention and
screening services, including providing lifesaving information as well as testing and screening for HIV and
many other sexually transmitted infections, as well as direct referrals to treatment. As the leading
provider of overdose prevention services (including Narcan trainings and distribution) in the region, we
are at the forefront of the fight against the opioid epidemic on the Cape. In addition, we operate
syringe access programs at some of our sites. Throughout our HIV prevention and care programs, we
maintain a deep commitment to working with individuals disproportionately impacted by the
stigmatization of addiction. ASGCC reaches over 100,000 residents and visitors each year.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Director of Development’s primary responsibility is to plan, direct, and manage a comprehensive
development program, including leading development activities on behalf of the CEO, and building and
sustaining relationships with donors, influential leaders and decision makers throughout the community.
The Director of Development is also responsible for developing a strategic plan to promote growth and
implement annual giving programs, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving and special events
programs. Essential job functions are:
• Leadership and Management of Development Programs: Provide leadership and management for
the planning, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive development programs designed to fund
ASGCC’s short- and long-term objectives.
• Strategic Development Planning: Develop comprehensive strategic and operational development
plans, including detailed fundraising strategies for annual, capital and endowment giving, online and
offline fundraising strategies, staffing and budget requirements, revenue and expense projections,
goals, timetables, and precise measurements for monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of the
development plans.
• Major Gifts and Planned Giving Programs: Develop and grow the major gifts and planned giving
programs, including gifts from individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations. Working
with the CEO, lead the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects and maintain contact with
key prospects and donors.
• Grants Management: Oversee the grant writing and submission process. Expand funding through
new grants by researching new opportunities for grant funding. Ensure competitive grants are
submitted and awarded by private foundations and government entities. Complete effective and
accurate reports required by grantors and submit them on a timely basis. Establish and maintain
strong and mutually supportive relationships with grantors.
• Annual Giving Campaigns: Oversee annual giving campaigns both online and offline.
• Leadership/Management: Serve as a member of the management team. Work closely with Agency
staff to ensure effective communication and plans and strategies that support ASGCC’s mission and
growth.
• Management of Staff: Direct and manage the Events and Volunteer Coordinator.
• Data Management: Oversee the management of the donor database and the establishment and
maintenance of protocols for ensuring data is accurate and timely and efficient. Regularly review,
analyze, and report key data to management related to donors, sponsors, email and prospect
information, and key fundraising activities. Keep abreast of new technologies that can leverage the
Agency’s ability to fundraise.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Must have at least five years of experience as a professional, multi-faceted fundraiser and marketer
for a nonprofit organization.
• Must have database experience and a demonstrated understanding of the importance of obtaining
and maintaining reliable data, measuring results of fundraising activities, and providing useful and
meaningful reports.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed, including evenings and weekends as the
marketing calendar dictates.
• Must have proven success and expertise in development planning and management of major and
planned gifts through knowledge of various methods of charitable giving and knowledge of the legal
and tax implications of both current and planned gifts.
• Must have demonstrable effectiveness in non-profit fundraising and program enhancement,
including strategic planning, supervision and program development.
• Must be able to generate enthusiasm and coordinate community and civic groups, businesses and
individuals to work together to benefit ASGCC.
• Must have strong knowledge of and experience with social media as a tool for fundraising and
marketing.

Job Posting: Chief Operating Officer

We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer who has the expertise and passion to play a key role in the

The COO’s primary responsibility is to provide strategic leadership for ASGCC’s program services,

including ensuring the quality of services provided, creating operational efficiencies, and driving the

growth and expansion of ASGCC’s services. In addition, the COO is responsible for leading, directing,

and managing program staff and for leading daily operations, including overseeing the design and

maintenance of IT systems. Primary responsibilities include:

• Strategic Leadership: Works closely with the CEO and senior managers to develop and execute

operational strategies that ensure the quality of services provided, create operational efficiencies

(including IT systems), and drive ASGCC’s expansion of services. In addition, as a member of the

executive team, the COO participates in developing ASGCC’s business goals and plan, both shortterm

and long-term. Regularly informs the CEO of all program issues and accomplishments.

• Management/Leadership: Leads, directs, coaches, inspires, and manages a high performing team

of program directors and managers to the next level by further developing and implementing

recruitment, training, and retention strategies. Makes hiring and promotion decisions, manages

performance reviews, makes compensation decisions, takes disciplinary action when appropriate,

and handles other employment related decisions. Serves as the go-to resource for program

directors and managers on service-related issues. Promotes regular and ongoing opportunities for

all program staff to give feedback on program operations.

• Operations Management: Monitors daily operations to ensure business goals are met or exceeded.

Ensures all programs deliver high quality services with focus on continuous improvement. Oversees

all activities pertaining to licensure, human rights, and contracts and ensures services follow all

federal, state, funding and city/town requirements. Ensures all program activities operate

consistently and ethically within the mission and values of ASGCC.

• Expansion of Program Services: Regularly reviews existing program services and, working closely

with the CEO, develops and implements new programs as needs emerge.

• Operational Infrastructure: Oversees the operational infrastructure with attention to populations

served, locations served, and outreach programming. Oversees program data and the analytics

function. Continually reviews systems and processes (including IT systems) and implements

improvements for maximizing efficiencies and consistency for programs. Identifies opportunities for

delivering services more efficiently and leads efforts to implement more efficiencies.

• Budget Development and Management: Prepares and submits an annual operations budget for

review and approval by the CEO, manages effectively within the budget, and reports accurately on

progress made and challenges encountered. Ensures the continued financial viability of ASGCC’s

program services through sound fiscal management.

• External Groups: Partners with the CEO to represent ASGCC with external constituency groups,

including community, governmental, and private organizations.

The job requirements are:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree in social work or similar field strongly

preferred.

• Must have 12 to 15 years of job-related experience, and at least five years of demonstrated

progressive experience in senior management, including operations. Must have experience in

managing a budget greater than $1 million.

• Experience working within public health sector, non-profit and/or field related to sexual health or

behavioral services strongly preferred.

• Comprehensive knowledge of HIV/HCV/STIs and related issues and the LBGTQ culture preferred.

• Strong public speaking, writing, and communication skills.

• Established leadership and staff supervision skills.

• Demonstrated history of effective collaboration and broad community involvement.

• Must have solid computer skills, including MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Drive, web

searches, and e-mail). Must be proficient in use of Mac computers. Knowledge of databases and

design pertinent to managing operations data also required.
