If you did, there’s no time like the present to check it out before the 2021 season gets underway! Scott Coffey and Ric Ide collaborated in a gorgeous display of clothing and footwear from local shops, much of it designed and made in Provincetown.
(In fact, in more than one photo, you’ll see clothing from Ruthie’s Vintage, one of two fabulous thrift stores in Ptown!)
Scott Coffey is the owner of Coffey Men on Commercial Street, where he designs and creates most of the fashions. He’s deliberate about where he is and what he does. “Everything is made in the US,” he says. “Just small companies, seamstresses working in their homes. I’m always looking for local sewers. Every shirt, I cut out by hand. I’m not getting stuff made in China—I pay adults to do the work. I could have a hundred pieces made for the price of one or two, but that’s not the point.”
Photographer Ric Ide is also rooted in Ptown. He’s constantly looking for intriguing locations around the Outer Cape to shoot, but what it always comes back to is the people. “It’s the eyes that tell the story,” Ide says. “I need that connection with the eyes. That’s where the energy comes from. I need to get that from people: they open up emotionally through their eyes.”
