Bridge Import Group

The Audience

Bridge Import Group’s audience/client base includes C-suite-level decision-makers, shipping industry insiders (including both water and land shipping), business owners looking for a shipping partner, and distribution point owners and staff.

The Problem

Bridge Import Group had an outdated website that did nothing to position the company as a leader in the shipping industry. It wasn’t visually appealing, was confined to one language, had no responsive styling, and was generally difficult for the owners to update and users to navigate.

Bridge Import Group also wanted better interactions with clients and a way to build a subscriber list for email marketing. The company needed help with clear, concise copy and a way to better display its product information.

The Solution

ptownie was able to solve Bridge Import Group’s problems through:

  • website design and development (font selection, color theory, etc.) for a fully responsive SEO-ready site
  • graphic design rebranding (new branding of its overall look)
  • content writing and editing
  • analyzing user impressions via Inspectlet
  • product photography
  • video editing
  • offering chatbot integration options (ptownie provided multiple options, Bridge Import Group chose Intercom)
  • Mailchimp account launch and configuration
  • hosting/email migration

The Process

Bridge Import Group and ptownie consulted through each of the following steps:

  1. Project kickoff/discovery: research and user insight with mood board
  2. Industry-specific information and conversations with client:
    • started by researching other shipping industry websites
    • Inspectlet review of over 3000 user sessions
    • looked for additional inspiration from travel/lifestyle/videography agency sites
    • chose simple layout mixed with dramatic hi-res videos to create cinematic feel
    • provided client with three design options from which to choose
    • ultimately decided on clean, concise pages with a digestible amount of information (no infinite scroll)
    • applied design package from site to Mailchimp account
    • design concepts/prototyping mockups
  3. Website development with attention to WordPress & custom themes, stock video, and SEO-friendly copywriting
  4. Production of website in three different languages
  5. User testing and staging site
  6. Chatbot integration and testing
  7. Finalizing launch and providing client with tutorials on using site

The Options

Bridge Import Group took advantage of a range of services from ptownie. The company received a fully responsive, SEO-ready website. The Inspectlet review allows the owners to register, share, and act upon hard data. ptownie’s copywriting services provided clear, concise, and understandable content. Chatbot configuration brought a new level of customer service to a company that prides itself on its excellent customer service. In addition, ptownie configured and launched a company Intercom account and provided Mailchimp newsletter templates and configuration for consistent branding across all media. Finally, ptownie provided top-of-the-line product photography via a shoot held in a shipping yard.

The Constraints

Generally speaking, constraints included:

  • needed to use existing logo
  • site/text sections needed to look visually appealing in multiple languages
  • site/project started in winter months. Hard to get good photos/videos
  • multiple stakeholders reviewing site in different locations of the world and in different languages

Not many constraints; client was very open and great to work with.

The Validation

After engaging with ptownie, Bridge Import Group saw an increase in online reservations, an increase in inquiries through its improved website, and an increase in overall sit traffic.

Providing access to the site in multiple languages has meant there is less of a barrier to entry for non-English-speaking prospects.

The new chatbot has resulted in new conversations and the ability to offer a range of automated answers.

The Next Steps

Bridge Import Group had very specific needs starting out, and many of those requirements continue into the future. The company would like to launch a quarterly newsletter to better keep in touch with clients and potential customers and create a website similar to the current one for its sister company.

Specific next steps include:

  • quarterly newsletter
  • continue to monitor all analytics
  • site maintenance and content updates
  • yearly data-driven design updates: continue to monitor user sessions via Inspectlet and revise the site based on that data
  • create website for sister company, A|B Dry Desiccants
