After several years living and performing in Ptown, the Provincetown Players decided to move back to New York. One of the Players, an editor and bookseller names Frank Shay, didn’t go with them; instead, he converted his barn into a playhouse and named it the Barnstormers’ Theater. The Barnstormers carried on the Provincetown theatre tradition, with Eugene O’Neill, Mary Heaton Vorse, and Harry Kemp among others writing and performing for several years.

You can still see part of the Barnstormers’ Theater: it’s the tower at 27A Bradford Street!
