PROVINCETOWN — Rachael Brister isn’t sure she believes in leaps of faith. But being named this week as the new CEO of the Provincetown Film Society and executive director of the Provincetown International Film Festival marks the second time she has jumped to follow her passion clear across the country.
Sixteen years ago, Brister was in Rochester, New York, where she managed movie theaters and was executive director of an LGBT film festival. When she got the chance, she relocated to become executive director of Three Dollar Bill Cinema in Seattle, which produced The Seattle Queer Film Festival and The Seattle Transgender Film Festival.
Brister then started her own marketing firm and fell in love with Provincetown from afar when she was hired two years ago by the Provincetown Business Guild. She was doing research for event promotion this fall when she stumbled across the film job posting.
