Cabaret Peregrine Theater Provincetown

Cabaret

A Peregrine Theatre Ensemble production, Cabaret is a Tony- and Oscar-winning classic with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff. Set between 1929 and 1930 in Berlin, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. As the Nazis rise to power, the musical focuses on the decadent nightlife at the Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around American writer Cliff Bradshaw and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and “Two Ladies.”

Ebonic Woman Provincetown

The Ebonic Woman

Ryan Landry and The Gold Dust Orphans are wowing audiences with their funny, thoughtful new musical comedy at Fisherman Hall. You’ve heard of the Bionic Woman; now a new super-hero, the Ebonic Woman, is ready to take on the gravest threat to the planet: Trumpism. Lynn, Massachusetts, is a city in trouble. Corrupt mayor Ivy League is ready to run for president, with the help of former president Donald Trump. “The Ebonic Woman is a blistering hot take on race in America and the walls we build around ourselves to keep the status quo. Using the form of superhero blockbusters as a jumping off point for this original musical comedy, Ryan Landry has once again written a scathing satire in which no group is safe. And his Gold Dust Orphans are here to make sure that while there’s plenty of social commentary, there’s even more laughs.” (Enterprise)
