Brian Calhoon (b. 1984, he/him) is a multi-faceted musician, innkeeper, and admissions consultant. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Brian specializes in music for the marimba and his voice and can be heard performing show tunes and pop covers in an award-winning show he created called the Marimba Cabaret. Alongside percussionist and duo partner, Greg Jukes, they have performed their creative covers from coast to coast and were a Critics Choice pick at the 2017 Portland Fringe Festival. In 2020, Brian personally accompanied legendary jazz singer Marilyn Maye and Broadways John Cameron Mitchell at a porch concert in Provincetown. As a singing marimbist, several composers have written pieces for Brian and he has performed this unique repertoire across the U.S. and Asia, most recently at the 2021 Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
Brian was previously Director of Admissions for The Boston Conservatory and is now an independent admissions consultant for My College Audition. He holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and The Boston Conservatory, and is a Marimba One endorsed artist.
