Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 ¼ t baking powder
- ½ t baking soda
- 2 T sugar
- ½ t salt
- 6 T melted butter
- 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
Filling Ingredients:
- ¼ cups sugar
- ¾ cups dark brown sugar
- 2 t cinnamon
- ½ t cloves
- 6 T melted butter
Process:
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Stir in the buttermilk & butter. Mix well, then turn out on a floured surface & knead a few turns until smooth, adding additional flour as necessary.
- Roll or pat out into a rectangle about 6 inches by about 12 inches.
- Combine sugars, spices and 2 T of the butter & mix well.
- Brush dough with some of the remaining melted butter.
- Spread filling evenly over dough leaving a 1 inch plain border on one long side. Press into dough a little bit.
- Begin rolling up from the opposite long side, like a jelly roll. Pinch dough together to seal.
- Using a serrated knife, cut into 10 equal pieces and place on a parchment-lined pan about 1 inch apart.
- Brush with remaining melted butter and bake till lightly golden for about 12-15 minutes.
- Let cool slightly and drizzle with glaze.
- For Glaze: combine 1 c powdered sugar & 3-4 T buttermilk
