    The Fine Arts Work Center

For over five decades, the Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) has provided time and space to emerging artists and writers at crucial, early stages of creative development. In addition to this effort, FAWC’s founders hoped the Work Center would perpetuate Provincetown’s seminal importance for the arts in America, overcoming modest means and geographic isolation to create an internationally acclaimed institution.

And yet for many visitors FAWC is hiding in plain sight. So this summer, think about visiting its newly renovated campus on Pearl Street and walk in the footsteps of the founders – renowned artists and writers like Stanley Kunitz, Robert Motherwell, Fritz and Jeanne Bultman, Josephine and Salvatore del Deo, Alan Dugan and Judith Shahn, Jim Forsberg, Phil and Barbara Malicoat, Myron Stout, and Jack Tworkov.

While you’re there check out FAWC’s annual exhibition, curated this year by FAWC Fellow and visual artist Heidi Hahn and featuring the work of some of its most acclaimed alumni. Titled Everyone We Know Is Here, all works are for sale (via Artsy), with proceeds split evenly between the artists and FAWC in support of its mission: to support artistic freedom, nurture creative connections, and make possible artistic achievements important to the larger culture.
