What Do You Do When Restaurant Construction Takes Longer Than Expected … You Pop Up!

The Mews Restaurant Provincetown hasn’t missed a summer season since it was founded as the Provincetown Mews Wine & Food Tasting Society in 1964 at 359 Commercial Street. It’s not about to start now. Three years ago the process began to update and further secure the structure of the building at 429 Commercial Street. This was the location the restaurant moved to in 1993. Finally this year the building owners were able to get the necessary permits to move forward with at least most of the project.

BUT it meant enduring construction for several months which would mean closing for part of the 2024 winter and all of the 2024 summer season.

SO … the Mews Restaurant decided to pop up at 386 Commercial Street the location of the Waterford Inn and the former Spindler’s. Friends, family, and Mews staff members carried memorable Mews items down the street one tenth of a mile west to create a smaller version of the Mews Restaurant where it will be known as Mews at The Waterford opening March 1, 2024.

The Mews Restaurant serves classically prepared, inventively presented gourmet cuisine designed to highlight the finest seasonal ingredients available. To create our nightly offerings, we source for the freshest ingredients from a network of local farmers, fishermen, artisans, and purveyors.

Our dishes feature grass-fed meat and wild game, free of antibiotics and growth hormones, free-range poultry, linecaught dayboat seafood and organic produce, with every element of each dish selected for a specific purpose. Ingredients, well known or exotic, are sought for their unique qualities and prepared in a distinctive style we like to call “American Global”, combining indigenous Cape Cod staples with classic techniques from ethnically-diverse traditions.
