From the Town Crier: Favorite Hike

My favorite hike is out to Wood End Light from First Landing Park.

First: Check the local tide chart to ensure that the breakwater will be passable and you won’t become stranded.

This hike begins at the roundabout near Provincetown Inn at #1 Commercial Street. Bring a bottle of water, sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, and proper shoes! The walk over the breakwater takes about 30 minutes one way. Once on dry land at the far end, keep an eye out for poison ivy and you’ll be fine. The beach affords commanding views of all marine traffic coming in and out of Provincetown Harbor. At low tide, one can follow the beach all the way around to Boy Beach, and returning back to the roundabout on dry land. Bring your camera!

    Provincetown Amy Arbus

    Amy Arbus

It was a mixture of excellent advice, great good fortune, and perseverance that led her to find her dream house just outside the limits of Provincetown where she will be moving this fall, much to her friends’ and family’s surprise—and her own delight. It remains to be seen whether or not this will make her an expat.

    Worth Fighting For Book Cover
Like many other progressives, I’m finding it difficult these days to be optimistic, much less at peace, about the state of the world and of the country I live in. Everywhere I look, cruelty is on display. (And what is it, anyway, about cruelty that it seems...
