    It’s *Your* Radio Station!

    WOMR Radio Provinceotwn
    July 20, 2019

WOMR is Cape Cod’s only community radio station, and it’s located right here in Provincetown—How lucky are we?

But, wait… What exactly does that mean? What’s community radio, and why do we need it?

    Consider the following…

    • The station has only three paid staff. Everyone else is a volunteer donating their time to support community access to the best local programming possible.
    • Every DJ chooses their show and their playlists. There are no songs they’re required to play, no commercial entity behind their choices.
    • Spoken-word programming reflects the life of Cape Cod: it’s local, relevant, and produced by people who know the area well.
    • It also means that you can be part of what the station does. Volunteer to help at an event. Come by and meet the friendly people who make the station run, day in and day out (and they mean that: WOMR’s programming is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year). Propose a show you might want to produce. Get to know the music they play and the spoken word programs they offer.

And, of course, consider supporting your local radio station! The summer pledge drive is just around the corner, and they’d love to have you renew your pledge or make a new one before the craziness of the drive begins. You can support WOMR for as little as $5/month—the cost of a cup of coffee, and look how much farther that money will go!

Check them out at WOMR.org, and join the fun!
