From the Town Crier: Favorite Summer Hike

My favorite summer hike is out to Wood End Light from First Landing Park.

First: Check the local tide chart to ensure that the breakwater will be passable and you won’t become stranded.

This hike begins at the roundabout near Provincetown Inn at #1 Commercial Street. Bring a bottle of water, sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, and proper shoes! The walk over the breakwater takes about 30 minutes one way. Once on dry land at the far end, keep an eye out for poison ivy and you’ll be fine. The beach affords commanding views of all marine traffic coming in and out of Provincetown Harbor. At low tide, one can follow the beach all the way around to Boy Beach, and returning back to the roundabout on dry land. Bring your camera!

    Fish House Provincetown

Provincetown History Snippet: Old Reliable Fish House

Between Lancy’s Wharf and the engine house of the Colonial Cold Storage plant is a three-story building that once housed the Old Reliable Fish House restaurant and pier, now a forlornly abandoned near-ruin.
